Art therapy provides a supportive, confidential and safe environment to enable the individual the opportunity for expression and communication and can be particularly helpful to people who find it difficult to express their thoughts and feelings. The relationship between the client and therapist is of central importance, although this creative therapy is in fact a three way process between the client, the therapist and the image or artwork. Clients work at their own pace and for as long as they require, making sense of worries, mixed emotions and concerns. The Art therapists understanding of art processes is underpinned by a sound knowledge of therapeutic practice. |
